Anchorage, AK -  Maintenance Dredging

Alaska and its geography make it isolated and in need of imports. Port of Alaska Anchorage is essential to the imports for Alaska making up 50 percent of all imports into the state. This project was completed with the USACE Alaska District. The goal of this project was to dredge the collecting silt, gravel, and sand on the seafloor allowing vessels to traverse the port with ease. This was a multiple-year contract spanning 2018 to 2020. Amber, was the lead engineer on this project. Throughout the project, the contracted company provided surveying, edging, and disposal of approximately 1,100,000 cubic yards of shoaled material per year over a three-year contract period. This project also included transitional dredging of approximately 600,000 cubic yards of virgin material for Anchorage Harbor. With this disruption of materials throughout the project, training was obtained through environmental consultants to observe and plan for beluga whales in the area. 

Seattle, WA - Maintenance Dredging 

The project was located on the upper reach of Lower Duwamish Waterway, this project required maintenance dredging. CES was the Project Manager and ensured the project remained on schedule, within budget, and aware of environmental concerns for the area. Over the 633,400 square feet surface area with required the removal of approximately 122,800 CY.  The depths range ranged from -17’ to 23’ MLLW. Some excavation was required but the vast majority was dredged with a mechanical clamshell dredge.
